For game zone owners, architects, builders and contractors who want a clear, practical explanation
If your game zone feels like an oven by afternoon, the roof is usually where the problem starts. AeroComfort 13mm XLPE sheets are a pre-insulated roofing option made for exactly this situation. The insulation is built into the sheet, so the roof itself works as metal roof heat insulation and also takes the edge off outdoor noise before it reaches your visitors and machines.
Why Game Zone Metal Roofs Get Hot
A standard metal sheet absorbs heat quickly. It sits in the sun, warms up and passes that heat to the air below. In a game zone the roof is not the only heat source. Machines, screens, lights and crowds all add warmth, so the roof ends up acting like an extra heater over your head.
Heat reaches you in three ways. Conduction moves it through the material, convection carries it in moving air, and radiation sends it out from a hot surface. Insulation slows these down, and that is the job of the XLPE core inside an AeroComfort sheet.
Â
What Are AeroComfort Pre-Insulated Sheets?
AeroComfort is a pre-insulated metal sheet for roofs and walls. It is made of three bonded layers:
• Zinc-aluminium coated steel sheet: the top layer that faces sun and rain
• Aerolam XLPE sheet: the insulating core
• Alupet foil: the bottom layer that completes the system
Because the layers come bonded together, there is no separate insulation step on site. For game zone projects, AeroComfort supplies this as the 13mm XLPE plain pre-insulated sheet.
Â
Choosing the Right XLPE Insulation Thickness
XLPE stands for cross-linked polyethylene. It is a lightweight foam that resists moisture and insulates well, which is why it sits at the centre of the sheet.
6mm, 9mm and 13mm options
The XLPE core comes in 6mm, 9mm and 13mm. As a general rule, a thicker core slows heat more than a thinner one, and 13mm is the thickest option AeroComfort offers. That makes it a sensible choice for a large, busy hall.
It is not the right answer for every building, though. A small office or a shaded store may do fine with 6mm or 9mm. Match the XLPE insulation thickness to the heat load of the building, and a game zone usually has a high one.
How AeroComfort 13mm XLPE Sheets Help Manage Heat and Noise
Heat
AeroComfort sheets are designed to create a temperature difference of up to 10°C between the outdoor and indoor space. This is the manufacturer’s design figure. What you actually get depends on the roof area, ventilation, how many machines are running and how many people are inside, so treat it as a best-case design value and not a guarantee.
It matters in an entertainment centre. Children, families and regular gamers stay for a few hours, and a hot hall makes people leave early. A cooler roof helps the space stay comfortable for longer, and it can ease some of the load on your AC units, which are otherwise running all day.
Noise
Arcade machines, music and excited visitors keep a game zone loud, and heavy rain on a bare metal roof makes it worse. The insulated build of AeroComfort is designed to reduce noise from rain and outside traffic. It will not make the hall soundproof, but you should notice a difference compared with a bare single-layer sheet.
For owners that means a calmer floor where staff can speak without raising their voice. For customers it means a more relaxed visit.
Condensation
Condensation forms when warm, damp air meets a cooler surface. Under a metal roof, those drips can fall onto machines, wiring and flooring. AeroComfort sheets are designed to help control condensation, which protects the equipment you have paid for and keeps the floor cleaner. Good ventilation and proper fixing still matter.
Glare and reflected light
This question comes up often in screen-heavy spaces, so here is a straight answer. The sheet is opaque, so it blocks direct sun from coming through the roof surface. That removes one common source of glare.
Long-term performance
Choose a roofing system by looking at thermal performance, moisture management, installation quality, maintenance and what the building will be used for.
The Aerolam XLPE insulation used in these sheets holds an IGBC Green Pro certificate, which architects can use as a reference in green-building documents.

Strength and Practical Benefits
•  High tensile strength of 550 MPa
•  Stiffening ribs for better load-bearing capacity
•  Higher purlin spacing, which can save steel
•  Full return lap, so fasteners stay intact
• Leak-proof, weather- and corrosion-resistant
•  Lightweight and easy to transport, clean and replace
• Non-toxic, termite, insect and bacteria proof
Installation and Storage Guidelines
A good sheet can still let you down if it is installed in a hurry. Follow the manufacturer’s guidance:
1.    Wear protective gear at all times
2.    Cut sheets on the ground so the finish is protected from falling particles
3.    Remove the guard film before installing
4.    Use screws or fasteners with EPDM rubber sealing washers
5.    Clean with a soft cloth, mop or nylon bristle brush to avoid swarf stains and rust
6.    Do not install during rain, because of the slipping risk
Please note: Aerolam advises against using AeroComfort in any environment that is combustible or exposed to fire.
Storing the sheets before installation
Store the sheets in a clean, dry area, stacked neatly off the ground. Keep them away from moisture, soil and walking paths. If a stack gets wet, dry it immediately and thoroughly. Do not store sheets upright without solid support, and do not use metal chains for lifting.

Who Should Choose the 13mm Option?
The 13mm core makes the most sense when the heat load is high. In practice that usually means:
•   Large halls with a big roof area exposed to the sun
•  Spaces packed with machines, screens and lighting
•  Venues where people stay for long sessions
•  Projects where indoor comfort is a selling point, not an afterthought
If your building is smaller or better shaded, the 6mm or 9mm core may be enough. Either way, ask for a side-by-side comparison before you decide.
Â
A Simple Plan for Your Roof
1.    Measure the roof area and note the lengths you need, from 8 to 20 feet or project lengths up to 12 metres
2.    Choose the insulation thickness that matches your heat load
3.    Pick a colour that suits the building
4.    Confirm fire requirements with your consultant
5.    Plan storage and handling before the sheets arrive
Following this order keeps decisions simple and avoids last-minute changes on site.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is 13mm XLPE too much for a small game zone?
Not necessarily. If the hall has many machines or gets heavy afternoon sun, it can still be worth it. Ask your supplier to compare thicknesses for your size.
Will the sheet make the roof silent in rain?
No roof is completely silent, but AeroComfort is designed to reduce noise. Expect a noticeable improvement compared with a bare single-layer sheet.
Can I choose a colour?
Yes. The listed colours are Off White, Sky Blue, Leaf Green, Brick Red and Graphite Grey, subject to availability.
Can AeroComfort be used on walls as well?
Yes. It is designed for both roofs and walls, so you can use the same type of sheet where wall insulation is also needed.
What lengths are available?
Standard lengths are 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20 feet. For projects, lengths up to 12 metres can be arranged, subject to transportation limits.
